I still remember the silence after sending out my first applications. You press submit, you wait, and the inbox stays quiet. For a long time I believed that silence was a verdict on me — that the people who got the callbacks simply had something I didn't. It took me years to learn the truth: they were rarely more gifted. They had just been a little better prepared, and a lot braver about starting before they felt ready.
That memory is why I built the Career Starter Series. I wanted the bridge I never had — a place between the classroom and that first real job, where a young person could learn the practical things no one quite gets around to teaching, in plain language, from people who do this work. Not to replace the years you have given to your studies. To honor them, by helping you carry everything you have learned across the gap and into a career.
So if you are a student, a graduating student, a fresh graduate, or simply an aspiring young professional standing at the edge of all this, let me tell you plainly: this was made for you. The Career Starter Series is a career readiness program for Filipino students and fresh graduates — a month-long series of six live sessions, held weekday mornings via Zoom, each one teaching something you will actually use the day you start applying.
The arc of the six sessions — by what each one unlocks
I designed the series as a journey, not a stack of lectures. Each session is led by industry practitioners, and each one unlocks a different piece of being ready:
- Session 1 — Resume Writing. The page that speaks for you before you ever walk in the room. You learn how a resume is really structured, the common mistakes that quietly cost people interviews, and what employers are actually looking for when they review your application.
- Session 2 — Job Interviews. This is where the inbox silence ends and the conversation begins. You prepare for the questions that come up again and again, build genuine confidence, sharpen how you speak, and understand how employers are evaluating you on the other side of the table.
- Session 3 — LinkedIn & Professional Branding. Opportunity is created, not waited for — and a great deal of it now lives online. You learn to establish a professional presence, build a LinkedIn profile that opens doors, grasp the fundamentals of networking, and shape how you come across.
- Session 4 — Workplace Communication. Getting hired is the start; thriving is the rest. You practice professional interactions, learn the etiquette of a real workplace, and grow the quiet confidence to hold your own once you're in the room.
- Session 5 — Professionalism & Work Ethics. The habits and mindset that turn a first job into a career. You come to understand what workplaces expect, build the professional habits that get you noticed, and start carrying yourself like someone who is meant to be there.
- Session 6 — AI for Careers. The world of work is changing under our feet, and I would rather you walk into it ahead than behind. You explore practical, responsible ways to use AI tools, improve how you learn and work, and understand where the future of work is heading.
One honest insight I want you to take even if you never join a single session: most people lose the role long before the interview, at the resume — not because they lack the qualities, but because the page never translated them. Learn to translate yourself onto that page, and so much of the silence lifts. That is the kind of unglamorous, decisive skill the series exists to give you.

The celebration at the end
The series closes with a Recognition, Special Awards & Certificate Ceremony — a real moment to mark how far you have come. There are honors like Outstanding Participant, Most Engaged Learner, Best Career Development Submission, and Leadership & Participation Awards. I added this on purpose. So many young people in our country work hard and are never once recognized for it. I wanted you to have a day that says: you showed up, you grew, and that matters.

And when you are ready to go deeper, the series leads naturally toward our Professional Development and Global Competence Program (PDGCP) — the more structured path for learners serious about building global careers. The Career Starter Series is your accessible first taste; PDGCP is the road that follows, when the time is right for you.
I have watched too many capable young people wait to feel ready before they begin. But readiness is built on the way, not before — courage comes first, and the confidence follows the action. The "i" in iStart is ownership; "Start" is the step that is yours to take. You are more capable than you think, and your big dream is valid. If even a part of you is ready to begin, I would love for you to start here, with us.
